How it Works

Designed to be used by any construction professionals on the jobsite, the Grade Rod Calculator is reliable and fast. There are never any ads and an internet connection is not required. The app supports both Decimal and Feet-Inch type grade rods. Meters are also supported as well, just select this setting in the Profile tab. The app automatically saves information between uses.

Basic Tab

There are 3 tabs to work within inside the Grade Rod Calculator app. (BASIC, ELEVATIONS, SLOPE)

BASIC TAB - Enter the measured height on your grade rod at the grade you are starting from. Simply add or subtract a measurement from that grade and the app will do the math and output the new height for you to set your instrument to.

You can also enter the rod reading from the next grade and the app will calculate and display the difference between this grades.

Elevations Tab

Elevations Tab, Elevation Input - This option works well if you need to grade or set structures to multiple elevations and you are working from a known control point or benchmark. First, make sure "Elevation Mode" is selected and set up your laser/transit and input the rod height at the control point/benchmark. Next, you enter in the elevations that you need to find and the calculator will output the rod height reading for each elevation.

NOTE: If you see a negative Rod Reading displayed here, you will likely need to move your laser or transit to a higher elevation.

Elevations Tab, Rod Height Input - This option works well if you need to know the elevations of multiple grades based on rod height readings. You still need to enter in a rod reading at a known control point or benchmark to work from. Next, just select the "Rod Height Reading" mode and enter in your rod readings. The corresponding elevations are calculated and displayed.

Slope Tab - This tab will calculate the slope in % using with a basic rise/run calculation. You can enter in the rise and run (distance) manually. Or, if "Rod Readings" mode is selected, just enter in the rod readings between the 2 points and the distance. The calculator will calculate the slope from 1 to 2.

If you have any suggestions to help improve this app, please feel free to leave them here.
