Choose a RoverCore Profile for Your Kind of Work

Start here, step 5 of 5 · All RoverCore guides

RoverCore is one app with one toolkit. A profile trims that toolkit down to what your crew actually uses, so a pole-line crew isn't scrolling past TIN tools and a GIS mapper isn't looking at COGO. This guide shows how to pick one and what each profile does.

What you'll need

  • RoverCore on your phone

  • An idea of what you'll be doing on this job: layout, utilities, GIS, volumes and so on

Step 1: Open Settings

Tap the Settings tab.

Step 2: Tap Choose a Profile

In Settings, tap Choose a Profile.

Step 3: Pick your profile

Pick the one that fits the work. RoverCore remembers your choice until you change it.

Step 4: Check the tools

Go back to Home or the Working map. You'll see the tools for your profile. Reports on Home → Reports also follow the profile: for example, span reports with Overhead Utilities and the stockpile report with Stockpile Volume.

Profiles hide tools. They don't split your data.

Switching profiles doesn't make a separate database or a separate app. It only changes which tools you see. Your projects and data stay where they are. Switch to All Purpose and the full toolkit is back.

Tips

  • Start with All Purpose if you're not sure. It's the default and has everything.

  • Set it before you hand off the phone. Picking a profile for the crew keeps the screen simple for that job.

  • Some settings follow the profile. For example, the default on-target stakeout tolerance varies by profile.

FAQ

Will I lose data if I switch profiles? No. Profiles hide tools; they don't create separate databases.

Do I need a different app for utilities or GIS? No. It's one app. Pick the profile in Settings.

I can't find a tool I used before. Your profile may hide it. Check Settings → Choose a Profile, or switch to All Purpose.
