Emlid Reach Setup for RoverCore

Receiver setup by brand · All RoverCore guides

Models this guide covers: Reach RS2, RS2+, RS3, RS4, RS4 Pro, RX and RX2. Same Bluetooth steps: Reach RS / RS+ and Reach M2.

You set up the NMEA stream once in Emlid Flow, then pick one way to get corrections. This guide goes through all of it. The steps are for Android, over Bluetooth.

On iPhone: RoverCore connects over Wi-Fi (TCP), not Bluetooth. The receiver needs NMEA output over Wi-Fi TCP. Check the receiver's manual or vendor app to see if your model offers it, and to get its IP address and TCP port. Some Bluetooth-only receivers can't connect to an iPhone. If yours can, turn on the same NMEA messages on that output and follow the iPhone steps in the connect guide.

What you'll need

  • Your Reach charged and on

  • Emlid Flow on the phone, for the setup steps

  • RoverCore on the same phone

  • Your NTRIP login, if RoverCore will run corrections

Set up the NMEA stream (every Reach)

  1. On Android, pair the Reach in Bluetooth settings (Classic). RoverCore reads NMEA on that link, not BLE.

  2. In Emlid Flow, connect to the Reach.

  3. Go to Settings → Position streaming (on newer firmware it's Integration with external software) → Bluetooth → format NMEA.

  4. Turn on GGA, GST, GSA and GSV. Turn on EBP too when it's listed. Diagnostics uses it to see that corrections arrived.

  5. Set the rate to 1–5 Hz. That's enough.

  6. Come back to RoverCore → Connect → scan → tap the Reach.

Corrections: pick one

A. NTRIP in RoverCore

  1. Disconnect Emlid Flow from the Reach.

  2. On the RS2 or RS3, if Flow hides Bluetooth as a correction input: go to Correction input, turn on Advanced methods, then pick Bluetooth.

  3. In RoverCore, start NTRIP and turn RTCM forward on (NTRIP guide).

  4. Pick an MSM4 mountpoint from the dropdown if you can.

B. Corrections already on the Reach

Set up NTRIP or a base in Emlid Flow so the Reach is already Fixed, then stream NMEA to RoverCore. Leave RoverCore NTRIP disconnected and RTCM forward off.

C. Emlid Corrections (a license in Flow, not an NTRIP login)

You can't type Emlid Corrections into RoverCore. Set it up in Flow: Settings → Correction input → Emlid corrections. Then:

  • RS4 / RS4 Pro: choose Get corrections via Reach (the receiver's own SIM). Close Flow, then link RoverCore over Classic. Leave RoverCore NTRIP and RTCM forward off. Home should show receiver corrections and RTK Fixed.

  • RX / RX2: Flow 13.5 or newer can keep corrections running over BLE in the background. Allow Flow notifications and don't swipe Flow away. On Android, also set Flow's battery to Unrestricted. Then link RoverCore over Classic. Leave RoverCore NTRIP off.

  • RS2 / RS3: running Flow in the background like this is untested. These units favour an existing BLE connection. Start Emlid Corrections in Flow first, then try linking over Classic. If the Reach refuses the second link, use option A or B instead.

Tilt (RS3, RS4 and RX2 only)

  1. In Flow: Settings → IMU → sensors on.

  2. In the NMEA stream, turn on ETC. Leave stream compensated position off. GGA must stay the antenna position. RoverCore works out the pole tip from your antenna height plus ETC.

  3. In RoverCore, turn on Enable tilt compensation for that model.

  4. Wait for RTK Fixed, then walk or rotate the pole until the HUD says it's compensating.

The RS, RS2, RX and M2 have no tilt. Keep the pole plumb.

Antenna height

Tape to the bottom of the receiver and pick your Reach model in RoverCore (antenna height guide). RoverCore adds that model's offset. For the RX it's about 147 mm. Don't also add the offset in Flow.

Reach M2: pair the Bluetooth module on the M2 and stream NMEA from that port in Flow. Use the Emlid antenna offset only if that's the antenna on the module. With a different antenna, set Model → Custom and enter the offset from its calibration sheet. The M2 has no IMU.

FAQ

Classic or BLE for Reach? Classic. RoverCore reads NMEA on the Classic link.

Can I use Emlid Corrections? Yes, through Flow (option C). You can't enter it in RoverCore's NTRIP screen.

Flow and RoverCore NTRIP at the same time? No. Pick one corrections source.
